I have been making pots since 1991
In 1991 I enrolled onto a City and Guilds course 1 day a week at my local college and was instantly hooked! I took some of my best pieces along to Loughborough University College of Art and Design and applied for inclusion onto the Bachelor of Arts (honours) course in 3D Design (Ceramics). They invited me onto the course!!! I loved every minute of it and made some marvellous friends - even though most of them were years younger than me.
I specialised in mould making and slip casting which involved some pretty hefty machinery so after my graduation I went back to my former life in Sales and Marketing.
My husband was advised to retire early due to ill health so we sold our business and moved to Spain. We were there for 3 years, We returned to England in 2004 and bought a farm. During all this time I didn’t touch clay at all and only started to ‘pot’ again in 2022 when I joined a communal studio in The Welbeck Estate in North Nottinghamshire, and I’m still there. I enjoy the friendship of some wonderful potters and love making my pieces.
I do tend to ‘live eat and breath’ ceramics but I also try to find the time to design, draw, and paint as well as visiting galleries and reading up about artists I admire.
